What is Attraction Marketing? Well, this is a wide open subject if there ever was one. You will find many explanations in the business world and I guess it depends on your point of view whether it is a good practice or not. The concept of attracting a buyer, prospect or client buy providing content or something of value first makes sense. There are so many marketers out there who do not understand that. Neither did I from the beginning because I thought the only way to get your product in front of someone was to put your product in front of someone. Sounds redundant, but not being from a marketing background, that is what I thought.
Basically, you still have the best methods to do a project plan, a business plan, a budget, etc. that still have to be done. The marketing plan though has gone through some changes over the last 20 years or so. What I was faced with when introduced to such a method, attitude, and/or practice was confusing to say the least. I read and heard phrases like, “selling without selling,” “Not sending a link to your product first,” “provide value first,” “build an audience,” “engage and then sell.” All these sayings were different than any I had ever heard. I was having a very difficult time wrapping my head around it.
Now the dilemma of how to provide value to a prospect, customer or client without presenting the company or product name has been challenging for me. How do you get there from here? It was like, how do you show someone how to get across a river without showing them how to get across a river. I don’t know if any of you have ever been in a situation where you could just NOT see the solution. I have never been good at puzzles and do not like them. Even so, the Attraction Marketing concept has caused me frustration. So for about 3 months of this trying to visualize, conceptualize, and figure out what the ‘heck’ Attraction marketing was all about, I got with some outstanding mentors who have been very patient with me, and starting observing how they implemented this confusing and to me backwards marketing method. And it took every bit of those 3 months for the Attraction Marketing method to sink in to my, obviously, thick skull.
I finally got it. It was like an ocean breeze flowing through my entire body, mind and spirit. It all made sense. Attraction Marketing was like Solomon’s Temple of Gold pouring through my front door. I mean I could not believe it. Attraction Marketing makes so much sense now I was so disappointed that I had not taken up online business earlier in my life. I just did not know how to market the right way and a way I enjoyed and felt comfortable with. Now I do.
You use Attraction Marketing by giving value whether it is an eBook PDF, a Video, a Free Course on something people need, so many options. The only requirement is that whatever you provide your prospect, customer or client needs to contain content that is valuable for free. To answer the earlier question of showing somebody how to get across the river, is to provide a FREE PDF or eBook that teaches them how to cross that river safely. That way you build a relationship with people who LIKE what you have, who want to know you, what you are about, what you can do for them; and answers the question, “What’s in it for me?” The Attraction Marketing method works in ANY kind of business: brick & mortar, internet marketing, affiliate marketing or network marketing; online or offline.
The first task is to know who you are marketing to. And, even with that term, “Marketing Too,” I missed the mark because you treat your audience like an audience not someone you are just trying to take money from. In reality, chances are you will NEVER sell anything to most of the people who follow you. And that is fine, it really is all right. Because what you are doing is building an audience who enjoys relating to you. I mean, do you try to sell something to your friends EVERY TIME they come over for a visit? I certainly HOPE NOT. They will not be your friends for long. Some of you may have experienced that very situation. Not a good feeling, is it?
But, here is the confusion. How do you sell without selling? How to you get people you like to invest in your product or service without offending them?
The answer is you provide VALUE to them first in order to get them to KNOW you, LIKE you and TRUST you. Isn’t that the way you treat your Family & Friends any way. You LOVE your Family & Friends and they know you would never try to TRICK them into buying something from you. You have open and honest conversations over the snack bar in a friendly, non-invasive environment where they can relax. You are not trying to sell them anything, you are just being family & friends discussing whatever comes to mind. Why should your prospects, customers or clients be any different? They see what you do for a living and if they want your help with something, they will ask for it. They come to you.
That is Attraction Marketing in a nut shell. Hope you received some value here.
